Andrew’s Gritzmaker (our Executive Director) is racing from Astoria, Oregon to Yorktown, Virginia (4,200 miles) beginning on June 2, 2018 as part of the Trans Am Bike Race (www.transambikerace.com). His goal is to finish the race in 30 days (140 miles/day) and to raise $25,000.00 for the Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House.
Only 50% of Trans Am Racers make it to Yorktown each year. Andrew says, “this will undoubtedly be the most difficult task I have ever attempted; even so, this trek pales in comparison to the hardships our families face”. The ride is long and unsupported. He will need to utilize resources provided along the route, camp out, fix any mechanical issues that arise, dodge cars, dogs and attempt to stay healthy. He will keep us posted on his progress, highlight the hospitality he receives along the route and the difficulties he experiences while being so far from the comforts of home.
Andrew is personally funding all aspects of this endeavor and 100% of funds raised will go back to helping families at the Mad Anthony’s Children’s Hope House.
