Northeast Indiana Foundations Supporting Families Facing a Crisis

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (July 17, 2020)Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House (MACHH), located on the Lutheran and Dupont Hospital campuses has received grant support from two Northeast Indiana Foundations. Every year the non-profit provides lodging and basic amenities to over 500 families from all over state and beyond who have a loved one receiving medical care at Fort Wayne area hospitals.

The St. Joseph Community Health Foundation has awarded $1,500 to go toward the Dupont Hope House location supporting NICU patient families from Allen County. Since opening this location in August 2019, 139 nights of lodging have been provided to 16 Allen County residents with infants in the Dupont Hospital NICU. The average length of stay at our Dupont Hope House for Allen County families is 15.4 days.

The LaGrange County Community Foundation has awarded $5,000 to support LaGrange families served at Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House in 2020. In 2019, 73 nights of lodging were provided to 23 LaGrange County residents. With the average cost of a hotel room near the hospital at $75/night, these families were able to save $5,475 in hotel costs.
